When Julie and Mark Hancock head to San Diego for the weekend, they are ready to relax and spend time with their grown children and grandson. The couple, from Scottsdale, Arizona, recently remodeled the kitchen in their San Diego vacation home in hopes of creating an idyllic retreat that would remind them of vacations in France.

Graceful arches and sun-washed terraces highlight the elegance of a home in the desert.
